WE ARE HIRING – HEAD CHEF

Western, Malay & Chinese Cuisine | Premium Café

Location: Kuala Lumpur / Selangor Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: Negotiable based on experience

We are looking for a talented, experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations for a premium café concept.

The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in Western cuisine, good knowledge of Malay cuisine, and the ability to prepare selected Chinese dishes.

We are seeking a hands-on leader who is creative, organised, quality-driven and capable of building a strong kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage daily kitchen operations.

Develop and execute a diverse menu featuring Western, Malay and selected Chinese dishes.

Create signature dishes that align with our café concept.

Manage recipe standardisation, food costing and portion control.

Maintain consistent food quality, taste and presentation.

Recruit, train, supervise and develop kitchen staff.

Manage kitchen inventory, purchasing, stock control and food wastage.

Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and halal requirements.

Work closely with management on menu development, promotions and kitchen profitability.

Assist in kitchen setup, equipment planning and operational readiness for a new café opening.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of professional kitchen experience, preferably with at least 2 years in a senior kitchen leadership role.

Strong proficiency in Western cuisine is essential.

Good knowledge of Malay cooking and selected Chinese dishes.

Experience in premium cafés, restaurants or hotel kitchens is an advantage.

Strong understanding of food costing, menu engineering and kitchen profitability.

Ability to lead, motivate and manage a kitchen team.

Creative in menu development and food presentation.

Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Experience setting up a new kitchen or café from scratch is highly preferred.

Knowledge of halal food preparation practices is an advantage.
