Job Summary:

The Waiter/Waitress in a hotel setting is responsible for providing exceptional dining service to guests, ensuring a memorable dining experience. This role includes taking and serving food and beverage orders, attending to guest needs, and maintaining the dining area’s cleanliness and organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests warmly and escort them to their tables.
  • Present menus and provide detailed descriptions of Chinese dishes, including preparation methods and ingredients if needed.
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders and input them into the POS system.
  • Serve food and drinks promptly, ensuring proper presentation and temperature.
  • Practice proper Chinese dining etiquette when serving dishes (e.g. serving tea, sharing-style service).
  • Refill beverages and attend to guest requests throughout the meal.
  • Clear used plates and utensils in a timely manner.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper setup of tables before and after service.
  • Provide recommendations and upsell special dishes or promotions.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally and inform supervisors when necessary.
  • Work closely with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service.
  • Follow hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
  • Assist in opening and closing duties of the restaurant.

Team Collaboration:

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality or customer service education is a plus.
  • Previous experience as a waiter/waitress, preferably in a hotel or upscale restaurant.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations professionally.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality service.
  • Basic math skills for handling payments and making change.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods.
