Overview
The Commis – Chinese Cuisine is an entry-level position responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of Chinese dishes under the guidance of senior chefs. This role supports the culinary team in delivering high-quality dishes while maintaining hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen.

THE JOBSCOPE
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of food according to recipes and kitchen standards.
- Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meat, seafood, sauces, and other items as required.
- Support the Chef and senior kitchen team during daily operations.
- Ensure food is prepared, stored, and handled in accordance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, kitchen equipment, and preparation areas.
- Follow proper portion control and minimise food wastage.
- Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organising food supplies when required.
- Ensure kitchen tools and equipment are used correctly and safely.
- Support the kitchen team during busy periods, functions, and events.
- Follow daily preparation lists and instructions from the Chef.
- Maintain proper personal hygiene, grooming, and kitchen safety standards.
- Report any equipment issues, food quality concerns, or stock shortages to the Chef.
- Work closely with other kitchen team members to ensure efficient service.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Chef or management.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in Chinese Cuisine.
- Knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
- Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Good discipline and attention to detail.
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
