Full job description

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Room Attendant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, comfort, and presentation of guest rooms and public areas while delivering exceptional service that enhances the overall guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean, service, and prepare assigned guest rooms in accordance with hotel standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Change bed linens, replace towels, replenish toiletries, and restock guest amenities.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitise guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and designated public areas to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Empty rubbish bins and ensure proper waste disposal in accordance with environmental and hotel policies.
  • Inspect guest rooms to ensure all facilities, furniture, fixtures, and amenities are in good condition before releasing rooms for occupancy.
  • Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, or safety hazards promptly to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Engineering Department.
  • Respect guest privacy at all times by adhering strictly to hotel policies, including compliance with "Do Not Disturb" (DND) signs.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests, such as providing additional towels, amenities, or other housekeeping services.
  • Follow all health, safety, hygiene, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
  • Handle lost and found items in accordance with hotel policies and maintain proper documentation.
  • Replenish housekeeping carts and ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are maintained in good working condition.
  • Work closely with the Front Office, Engineering, and other departments to ensure rooms are ready and guest requests are fulfilled efficiently.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and uphold the hotel's grooming standards.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Management.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous housekeeping, hotel, hospitality, or cleaning experience is an advantage but not essential, as training will be provided.
  • Basic communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Good time management skills with the ability to complete assigned rooms within required timelines.
  • Physically fit and able to perform duties involving prolonged standing, walking, lifting, bending, and repetitive movements.
  • Honest, responsible, and able to maintain confidentiality regarding guest information.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)

  • Experience in hotels, serviced apartments, or hospitality housekeeping operations.
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, chemicals, and housekeeping equipment.
  • Understanding of hotel hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and respond to service requests professionally.
  • Familiarity with housekeeping checklists and room inspection procedures.
