Job description:

Purpose of the Position

The IT Support Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive IT support and maintenance across the organization. This includes managing hardware and software systems, supporting network infrastructure, assisting users with technical issues, and ensuring the security and efficiency of all IT operations to facilitate smooth day-to-day activities.

Key Responsibilities

IT Support & Troubleshooting

Be the go-to person for first-line IT support for staff and students.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, access, and connectivity issues.
Support computers, printers, AV equipment, and classroom technology.
Manage user accounts, email systems, and access permissions.
Work closely with external vendors and central IT teams on escalated technical issues.

Hardware & Software Management

Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IT hardware and software.
Monitor system performance and ensure security updates and patches are applied.
Maintain IT asset inventory and coordinate equipment repairs and replacements.
Support the lifecycle management of IT equipment.

Network & Infrastructure Support

Assist with the setup and configuration of routers, switches, access points, and CCTV systems.
Support Wi-Fi connectivity, VPN, and other essential network services.
Help maintain network security and support data privacy compliance.

User & Systems Administration

Create and deactivate user accounts across various systems and platforms.
Assist users with account access and provide basic technical guidance and training.
Maintain clear IT procedures, user guides, and system documentation.

Reporting & Documentation

Prepare weekly updates on system status, technical issues, and upcoming maintenance requirements.
Document incidents, solutions, and system configurations to support audit and compliance requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in IT support, hardware/software maintenance, or network administration.
Experience in an educational or corporate environment will be an advantage.

Technical Skills

You'll be a great fit if you're confident working with:

PC hardware and software troubleshooting
Windows Active Directory
Microsoft 365 & Azure
Network troubleshooting and infrastructure
Cisco routers, switches, and access points
Wi-Fi and VPN services
CCTV and VOIP systems
User accounts and access permissions
Basic cybersecurity principles and IT documentation

Soft Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Problem-solving mindset and confidentiality awareness.

Preferred Qualifications

Cisco certification or relevant networking certifications.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or related certifications.
Experience supporting AV systems and classroom technology.
Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to the organization.
