About the Research Unit:

The R&D Lab Unit at AAR plays a pivotal role in advancing research and development initiatives aimed at integrating chemistry into Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to optimise oil palm cultivation. Our primary objective is to support the crop production division in ensuring we are in forefront with new techinuqes and technology to improve our laboratory method and broaden the scope of testing.

• Method Development R&D: We develop novel analytical techniques to explore beyond conventional parameters, aiding precise decision-making in the plantation
• Method Improvement R&D: We enhance our current laboratory methods to improve efficiency and productivity in our commercial analytical testing services
• Collaboration with Crop Production: We provide internal laboratory services and work with crop production department to support and complement their research program

Your Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Lab Assistant to join our team in a permanent position, supporting routine laboratory research activities, including sample preparation, analytical testing, data recording, and assisting in established laboratory methods and procedures.

Requirements:

• Candidate possesses Minimum Diploma in Science or Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) or Equivalent
• Able to perform routine laboratory tasks in accordance with established standard operating procedures
• Capable of handling laboratory samples, reagents, and materials in a safe and systematic manner
• Able to support laboratory testing, sample preparation, and related operational activities
• Willing to work in a laboratory-based environment on a full-time, onsite basis
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a research team
• Committed to complying with laboratory safety guidelines, housekeeping standards, and quality requirements
• Physically fit to perform laboratory duties, including standing for extended periods and handling samples.

Responsibilities:

Laboratory Analytical Testing

• Perform sample scanning and data entry of NIR
• Assist in routine and non-routine laboratory analyses as required
• Support chemists and laboratory personnel in conducting analytical tests and experiments
• Ensure laboratory work is conducted in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines

Laboratory Administration Work

• Record, label, and manage soil and water samples systematically
• Maintain proper documentation, logbooks, and laboratory records
• Assist in sample tracking, filing, and basic report preparation

General work/others

• Assist chemists with laboratory administration and experimental work when required
• Carry out any other laboratory-related tasks assigned by supervisors from time to time

Additional Skills and Notes:

• Basic knowledge of laboratory instruments and routine analyses
• Basic computer skills (Excel, data entry, report filing)
• Responsible, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions closely
• Willing to learn new laboratory methods and techniques
• Good attention to detail and accuracy in routine work
• Positive work attitude and reliability

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM1,965.00 - RM2,500.00 per month
