Full job description
Who are we?
Global Maritime is a leading marine, offshore, and engineering consultancy that offers intellectually stimulating work within a deeply collaborative culture and with uniquely supportive leadership. This environment creates a culture where talented professionals truly thrive. At the heart of what we do are extraordinary challenges. We directly contribute to unique, often world-first projects on the global stage. We are driven by a vibrant culture of innovation, including dedicated R&D, advanced in-house software, and the freedom to develop your own ideas. This rapid exposure across the entire spectrum of marine, offshore, and engineering consultancy accelerates your expertise like nowhere else.
Welcoming you to our team:
You will be joining our Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) team, working within a highly skilled group of engineers and consultants supporting complex offshore and marine operations globally. Based flexibly as a freelance professional, you will collaborate closely with project teams and report into senior operational leadership within the business stream.
The team plays an integral role in marine operations of all sizes, from early-stage engineering and planning through to offshore execution. This role is ideal for a practical and experienced engineer who enjoys working across diverse projects and wants to be directly involved in ensuring safe and efficient delivery from concept through to completion.
What does success look like in this position?
In this role, success means confidently delivering high-quality Marine Warranty Survey services across a variety of offshore and marine projects. You will thrive by providing clear and practical technical guidance to colleagues and clients, while independently verifying engineering calculations with precision and confidence.
You will be actively engaged in risk identification workshops, contributing valuable insights that help reduce risks to as low as reasonably practicable, and you will bring a proactive mindset to safety and QSHE matters. Success also means being present where it matters most — offshore or on-site — reviewing operations, making sound decisions, and issuing approvals that enable safe progress.
You will demonstrate strong ownership of your work by maintaining financial awareness, supporting project coordination activities, and ensuring timely invoicing. Producing clear, accurate, and high-quality documentation will be second nature to you, alongside carrying out vessel inspections and technical reviews with great attention to detail.
Building strong client relationships will also be key, as you manage expectations, support scope development, and contribute to business growth. Your ability to identify opportunities, support proposals, and engage in business development discussions will position you as a trusted and valued expert both internally and externally.
How you make an impact:
As our Freelance MWS, you will make a significant impact by providing agile commercial leadership that considers the technical complexities of our Marine Warranty Survey services, championing knowledge sharing, and promoting standardisation and consistency across our global team. You will monitor business stream performance, proactively identifying and mitigating potential commercial and market risks, and collaborate closely with team members to address technical challenges, resource constraints, and project risks to ensure smooth project execution.
Your contributions will be vital to accurate business stream forecasting and budgeting activities, and you will actively support project management and coordination efforts, driving progress across operational and consultancy activities. Identifying and pursuing new business development opportunities will be a natural extension of your role, alongside contributing to proposals and strengthening client relationships.
Furthermore, you will support the development and effective application of the group Business Management System, ensuring our service offering remains competitive and aligned with market needs. You will play a key role in maintaining and developing strategic relationships with clients and stakeholders, reinforcing Global Maritime’s position as a trusted partner in delivering complex offshore operations safely and efficiently.
Your starting point when you join:
• Degree qualification in Naval Architecture or a related discipline, with relevant offshore construction or offshore operations experience
Working with us
Global Maritime stands out as the premier destination for any maritime professional due to our unique blend of technical opportunities – the chance to shape the industry's future on globally significant, cutting-edge projects – within a genuinely supportive and collaborative international community. This is all combined and led with leadership that actively mentors your growth within an empowering non-political environment. At Global Maritime, you'll find an exceptionally supportive and collaborative environment. We cultivate close-knit global teams built on transformative relationships, not transactional ones. Expect transparent, two-way communication and a genuine sense of community, fostered through shared celebrations, activities, and a commitment to social responsibility. This ensures you feel connected, valued, and part of a cohesive international network focused on making a positive real-world impact. Your journey will be guided by leaders defined by integrity, accessibility, and honest investment in your growth. You can expect clear strategic direction, open communication channels right up to the CEO, and a transparent Career Framework. You'll be mentored and developed by recognised industry thought leaders within an informal, flat structure where data drives decisions. This ensures you're empowered, supported, and valued as an individual, never just a cog in the machine.
