  • About the role
    Fugro Malaysia Marine is seeking an experienced Senior Data Processor to join our dynamic team. This role is centered on managing the complete lifecycle of hydrographic survey data within a remote operations environment. It involves transforming raw data into accurate, client-ready outputs through rigorous analysis, validation, and visualization. Beyond technical execution, the position plays a key part in shaping best practices for data processing and fostering capability development by guiding junior team members. Success in this role requires deep expertise in marine geospatial principles and advanced proficiency with specialized processing tools. Operating from Kuala Lumpur’s Remote Operations Centre, the position ensures seamless support for live offshore activities while delivering high-quality deliverables that meet industry standards.

    What you’ll be doing

  • To oversee, manage and process data collected from hydrographic surveys. This includes the interpretation, analysis, quality control, and presentation of survey data to produce accurate and detailed maps of underwater terrains.

  • This position also involves mentoring and guiding junior data processors, ensuring the integrity of the data, and contributing to the development of data processing standards and procedures.

  • Possess an advanced understanding of hydrographic surveying techniques, geodesy, and cartography, as well as proficiency in using specialized software for data processing and map generation.

  • To focus on supporting live vessel operations and the generation of client deliverables this position is based in our dedicated state-of-the-art Remote Operations Centre, located in Kuala Lumpur.

  • Guide junior data processors, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused environment. This includes providing informal training and feedback to junior team members.

  • Oversee, management and participation in the processing of hydrographic survey data from various survey platforms, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the data.

  • Ensuring processed data is suitable for charting, reporting and complies with scope of work.

  • Generation and quality control of final survey data products for delivery to clients, ensuring that all deliverables meet the company standards and client requirements.

  • Coordinate with project managers and clients to provide updates on processing progress and discuss any issue or anomalies in the data. Ensuring projects are delivered on time and meet the required standards.

What we’re looking for

  • BSC or MSC or equivalent in a relevant survey related discipline including Hydrography, Geomatics, Geospatial Sciences, Mapping Sciences, GIS, and remote sensing or similar

  • Previous experience as a Data Processor in hydrographic surveying. Experienced with post processing software’s such as Caris HIPS & SIPS, Starfix Processing suite, QPS Software’s & ArcGIS.

  • Prefereably 0-3 years of experience to operate in office settings

  • Experience / Qualification in Data Processing, AutoCAD or equivalent

  • Proficient in English communication, written and verbal
