Job Summary

The Onshore Medic / Onshore Nurse is responsible for delivering professional clinical care, occupational health services, and emergency medical response to employees at the designated client site in Samalaju, Bintulu.

This role involves managing daily clinic operations, providing patient consultations, supporting preventive healthcare initiatives, and ensuring timely medical intervention, referrals and evacuations when required.

The incumbent will also be responsible for maintaining medical equipment and supplies, ensuring compliance with International SOS clinical standards and procedures, and supporting the implementation of workplace health, safety and emergency response programs.

The role requires a competent healthcare professional who can work independently, respond effectively to medical emergencies, and maintain a high standard of patient care in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Emergency Medical Response

• Provide clinical consultations, patient assessment, triage, treatment, follow-up and referrals.
• Support preventive healthcare programmes, including medical screening and health promotion.
• Provide 12 hours of on-site emergency medical response and 12 hours of on-call coverage for client employees.
• Coordinate medical emergencies, referrals and evacuations with International SOS Assistance Centres and Coordinating Doctors.
• Maintain emergency response readiness and act as a medical escort when required.

Clinic Operations & Quality Assurance

• Manage daily clinic operations in accordance with International SOS clinical standards, policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient records, clinic utilisation reports and medical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with medical escalation procedures, including consultation on prescription medications.
• Conduct clinic self-audits, identify gaps and implement corrective actions to maintain audit readiness.
• Maintain adequate medical supplies, equipment and emergency response readiness.

Ambulance & Medical Equipment Management

• Supervise ambulance drivers and ensure ambulances remain roadworthy and emergency-ready.
• Conduct medical equipment training for ambulance drivers.
• Ensure proper maintenance and availability of medical equipment and emergency supplies.

Client Engagement & Professional Standards

• Maintain professional relationships with clients and promote International SOS medical services.
• Comply with occupational health, safety and environmental (OHS&E) requirements.
• Support continuous quality improvement in clinical care, workplace safety and clinic operations.

Job Requirements & Experience

• Diploma in Medical Assistant or Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board/Malaysian Medical Assistants Board.
• Possess a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC 2026 & 2027).
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or equivalent emergency care qualifications would be an added advantage.

Work Experience

• Preferably 3 years of relevant clinical experience in nursing, emergency medical services, occupational health or industrial healthcare.
• Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, oil and gas, construction or remote-site medical environment would be an added advantage.
• Experience in emergency response, patient assessment, triage, stabilisation and medical referrals.
• Exposure to occupational health programs, medical screening and workplace health promotion.
• Experience in managing site clinics, medical documentation, medical supplies and emergency equipment would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with medical emergency response plans, clinic audits and healthcare SOPs.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong clinical assessment, patient care and emergency response capabilities.
• Ability to work independently in a site-based clinic environment.
• Good decision-making skills, particularly when managing medical emergencies.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with doctors, medical assistance teams and client representatives.
• Good communication, interpersonal and documentation skills.
• Proficient in maintaining accurate clinical records and preparing medical reports.
• Good understanding of occupational health, workplace safety and infection prevention practices.
• Ability to maintain professional standards, patient confidentiality and quality healthcare services.

Additional Requirements

• Willing to be based at the designated client site in Samalaju, Bintulu, Sarawak.
• Able to support the required 12-hour on-site emergency response and 12-hour on-call arrangement.
• Able to work rotations (14 days work and 14 days off)
• Physically and medically fit to perform the responsibilities of a site-based healthcare professional.
• Willing to undergo relevant medical training, competency assessments and mandatory certifications as required.
• Prepared to support medical evacuations and act as a medical escort when necessary.

Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: RM4,000.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
