Full job description

As an Assistant Hotel Manager, you are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hotel. Naturally, you are an excellent ambassador yourself - enthusiastic, optimistic and treating everyone with respect. You work together with your team by guiding, coaching and inspiring them to deliver exceptional guest experiences, while maximising revenue opportunities, controlling costs and ensuring a safe, efficient and seamless hotel operation.

What is your role?

  • Lead, encourage and inspire the team in order to support the operational brand and culture of citizenM;
  • Coach and train the team, develop and nurture talent, provide feedback and conduct monthly evaluations;
  • Oversee the daily Food & Beverage and kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, food safety, operational efficiency and compliance with company standards;
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills in handling daily operational challenges;
  • Responsible for shift scheduling to ensure adequate operational coverage at all times;
  • Handle shift closing procedures, cash handling, balancing and operational reporting;
  • Manage guest feedback, online reviews and service recovery in a timely and professional manner;
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve guest satisfaction, productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration across all departments;
  • Responsible for your own planning, work organisation and leading by example in delivering exceptional service.

What are we looking for from you?

  • Possess operational supervisory or management experience in the hospitality industry, with strong Food & Beverage and/or kitchen operations experience.
  • Require a minimum (5) years working experience in service industries, with two (2) years managerial / supervisory experiences;
  • Have sound knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety practices, inventory management and food cost control;
  • Are able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing;
  • Have excellent interpersonal, leadership, analytical and decision-making skills;
  • Are computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office; experience with hotel PMS, POS and inventory systems will be an added advantage;
  • Are confident leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced operational environment;
  • Are a team player and passionate about the things you are doing.
