Full job description

A Restaurant Hostess is responsible for welcoming guests, managing seating arrangements, and helping ensure a smooth and pleasant dining experience from the moment customers arrive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome guests warmly and professionally.
  • Manage reservations, walk-ins, and waiting lists.
  • Escort guests to their tables and provide menus.
  • Coordinate table assignments with servers and restaurant management.
  • Answer guests’ questions about the menu, restaurant facilities, and services.
  • Handle phone calls and reservation inquiries.
  • Monitor table availability and help maintain an efficient seating flow.
  • Communicate guest requests or special occasions to the service team.
  • Assist with resolving minor guest concerns and refer issues to management when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
  • Follow restaurant standards for customer service, appearance, and hygiene.
  • Assist other front-of-house staff when needed.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in hospitality or customer service is an advantage.
  • Friendly, confident, and professional personality.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to remain calm and polite in a busy environment.
  • Good organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Well-groomed and presentable.
  • Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
