Very much own time, own target except for a few weekdays when your groups have to meet up for meetings or workshops. A lot depends on the management and agency leaders. Word of advice: save up first before commencing this job. The first few weeks / months will be difficult, especially for those not familiar with the insurance industry. Workplace and environment is very much dependent on your agency leaders. Some treat their employees well, whereas some can be rather demanding with meeting expectations. Must be able to take rejection from potential clients and criticism from team leaders. Patience is a must. Lots of incentives to get employees to meet targets. Recommended for those interested in meeting new people and willing to go the extra mile.
My work day is flexible so requires a lot of self-discipline. Very little guidance and help but must meet target which is difficult unless you have a large warm market or leads. Everyone is for himself or herself as it is their own market so unable to share with one another or they will have less sales and not be able to meet targets. Most enjoyable part of the job is you will be very free if you have few clients to meet but for those with lots of clients, they have great friendships through the years.
Need to constantly find own leads
Employees can really experience work life balance as they have their own timings. Salary wise is nice as insurance is such a number game. the more you produced the more money you will earn. but as to pressure, all industry that has sales & marketing there will be a pressure.
pressure in target sales
A person has to be very discipline in the industry. You will be spending most of your time trying to look for leads/prospect. Time management is a very important part of the work. You will have to plan your schedule well and keep to your schedule. Most of the time you are very much on your own in this job although there are people who will help to guide and motivate you. The entire industry is driven by how much sales you can close and you have to be driven by the sales result. The hardest part of the job is to handle rejections and keeping self motivated. The most enjoyable part of the job is that your work time can be flexible.

Actually I am tied agent to AIA, not an employee so I am not qualified to post any review here... but from what I observed, some staff who left the company some time ago, tend to return and continue working with AIA, probably says much about the company as a good one to work with.
Several staff welfare programmes
Work life balance is good with the flexibility work culture in AIA. This role allows me to meet and interact with different kinds of people everyday which i truly enjoys the most. It teaches me to deal with different situation and people differently.
Hours are flexible, however, income is not. most enjoyable will be working with clients and other agents. a lot of happy and wonderful memories because of the people that are there. it is always a new challenge meeting different kinds of people on the job too.
Your leader or mentors is really the deciding factor when it comes to this career. They are really the one that will help you achieve your goals and dreams. But having said this, you need to have lots of self discipline and be prepared to work very very hard.
