Very political when it comes to advancement, they make the numbers magically work for the "in crowd" who get fast tracked for promotion
In general a good company with many people who work hard and want to do the right thing. There are some bad actors, and many people who get ahead not on merit, but based on their connections in the firm. Rumor is that some preference given to those from the same immigrant groups based on a very unscientific study.
Salary is decent
Low bonus, promotions are not merit based
If you work hard and have a keen and creative style you will succeed at E Y. Most importantly the staff, as well as the partners collaborate to provide the highest level of effort to meet the needs of the clients at every level of service provided, tax and audit personal working together to anticipate and satisfy said clients needs.
As a consultant, it's difficult to have a positive work life balance anywhere, but EY seems to make it extra difficult, dependent on the group that you are in. The between Customer and the new CGP group, it is a complete political disaster, with everyone saying that one is going to re-absorb the other once one of the group's leaders comes out on top. Leadership doesn't seem to care about the impacts this has on their employees, as long as they are the most important.
Such a poor environment with poor leadership. It lacks support from multiple dimension and full of office politics. Unless your lucky and work with someone who really knows what they are doing AND willing to coach you, your screwed. Such a double standard place where they consistently ask you to make a better margin but not giving you any resource...I can keep going all day long And
As someone who transitioned from a small start up company to EY, I see its advantages and disadvantages. The best part of the job is the prestige and access to powerful partnering organizations. The worst part is the sheer size of the company and how even the most niche departments are lumped in with other departments that share none of the same information or needs.

Workplace culture is geared toward aggressive, proactive type A persons. Great place if you thrive by leading within large teams and don't mind lots of travel. So much client time is expected that regular offices are not provided. Hoteling is used instead, requiring one to reserve cubicle space at the office building when needed. Long hours are the norm, though the company tries to encourage working smart rather than just having more face-time. Networking with management and clients is highly important to succeed. Management expects people to drive their own career development, though they have a system to offer quarterly feedback. As with many consulting firms, some managers and higher-ups are helpful and others can be jerks.

EY offers a lot of opportunities to learn new skills quickly and implement these skills, but managers can be demanding and occasionally overstep or push back against work-life boundaries. The culture of the firm definitely encourages excessive work, and I sometimes felt that it was better to pour in more time rather than focusing on being more efficient.
Worked closely with Partners, leadership and management team. EY is a company that really cares about their people. They provide a flexible work environment. Most of the people I worked with are caring and professional.
EY offers great benefits, reimbursement for fitness expenses. They also provide a great work life balance, flexibility to work from home as needed.
The culture revolves heavily around client-facing employees rather than the support employees. If you are in the support services area, there is little room for advancement. For some, the pay and benefits will compensate for lack of advancement but note that work/life balance isn't offered as freely to support employees as it is to client-facing employees. If you are career driven in the support role (admin, facilities, tax processing, etc.), this may not be the place for you. The firm really takes care of their client-facing employees and offers several career paths, training and counseling. Overall, EY as a whole, is a good place to work for client-facing employees and offers great benefits and pay to everyone, including support staff. Over the last decade though, the way they treat their support staff has decreased significantly to the point where I wouldn't necessarily recommend friends or family to work here in a support role.

Lack of career advancement for non-client facing employees
