A typical day at Ernst & Young (EY) involves frequent opportunities to do new and challenging tasks that help you grow and see your work-in-action and how your personal contribution affects the overall big picture. There are always opportunities to learn new processes or instruct on a new process among your peers. The management is supportive and encourage you to voice your interests in personal and career growth. The workplace is designed as an open space to encourage cross-sharing among peers. The hardest part of the job is not having enough opportunities locally for advancement and a very steep competitive field. The most enjoyable part of the job was knowing how your work positively affected your customers, peers and management on a daily basis. It made for a sense of fulfillment.

There was no end to the firm adding more and more to your job responsibilities. When it became too much they pretended to care, but nothing was done as promised. When they ask you to take on new responsibilities, you say yes because it is expected and if not, you are accused of not being a team player and/or it will show up in your review.

I've been happy at EY, happy to learn, to team, to participate across rank and role. I've valued EY's commitment to community engagement and the generous benefits. Being a global company with 250,000+ employees, procedures and platforms can be too much, certainly in terms of change but also just to understand. That said. everything's organized and timely. Proud to work for EY (and need more $$)!!!
Pros
learning, professional development, networking
Cons
below-market compensation

EY provides a good work/life balance. Many benefits and programs to get involved in. I did not see any career advancement at my level. EY is a global company and employees are eligible to move to other areas of the company if they qualify and are interested.
Pros
Nice new building professional employees - a lot diversity
Cons
My position will be eliminated within two years

EY is a great place to work and I would have stayed until retirement except that they are changing the Executive Assistant model. I was fortunate to have worked there for over 30 years and gained so much experience and enhanced skills. I worked in 3 different offices and was glad to be able to transfer and stay with EY.

There is an hard upward movement for people of color and if you do not know anyone inside the company. There are jobs you would post for that you KNOW you are qualified for and NEVER get a call for these jobs. Management is not helpful even though they portray this image of feedback and helping you, its all a dog and pony show.
Pros
benefits, work life balance
Cons
stated above

Working at EY is a pleasure. The culture is fast paced yet colleagues are in general very respectful to one another. The Company offers a lot of training and workshops constantly motivating their employees to grow. They have a vision for the future and work very hard to achieve their goals as a company and they like to involve everyone in this development from Business Support to Boardmember level. This creates an sense of unity.
Cons
Low salary

administrative management ESS only served partners not the actual EAs. Created a culture where spying an tattling on your counter parts was accepted and ultimately how you keep your job. If your point of view was different then you were overlooked and/or targeted. Used hearsay to target you and put it in reviews. EY is a culture where if you are not attached to a partner - you'll go NO WHERE fast no matter how hard you work. Your peers and how they view you is more important than your quality of work.
Pros
location
Cons
management and partners totally disconnected

EY is a great place to work. I've learned so much over the years and worked with a lot of wonderful people. After 23 years I still enjoy what I do. The day is challenging but rewarding. I've made life long friendships.

EY is a great place to work. Lots of extra activities going on, you can get as involved as you'd like. They treat their employees very well, particularly in the Boston office. People are generally very nice and helpful. Learning to get around the company is the most difficult part of the job but once you figure that out, it truly is a great company.
Pros
great people
Cons
difficult to figure out how to get things done within the company
