There have always been layoffs and the occasional bad manager but this has gotten significantly worse over the years. All employees, regardless of rank, age or profession are consistently fearful for their jobs. There is a very clear "everyone is replaceable" atmosphere and, if you report to the "wrong" person, it will be stated verbally to you. Most of the "old-timers" have been let go years ago, the staff is fairly young now. So the breadth of knowledge and technical insight is lacking. I can't stress enough how poor management is. There is very little regard for the mental health or wellness of employees any longer.
Flexible work day (for some)
Management at every level
I have been working at Motorola Solutions full-time for more than 3 years Pros The general company strategy seems to be moving in the right direction, but it is slow moving. Company offers decent snacks. Remote work options are solid. Cons Employees are not valued, and upper management seems blind to the problems of employees. Way too many pointless meetings, the higher you are in the company the less you get to not attend meetings. Horrid Job growth unless you can sneak into a restructuring. Bad culture in Utah.
Sales executives are very independent and involved in every aspect of the sales process and customer support. I had the ability to drive a new product through an acquisition which was exciting. Management was very supportive and the entire staff was great to work with. The hardest part of the job was working for a company with little software sales experience and how long it takes to sell. Motorola traditionally sold based on a run-rate business which is predictable.
A fun place to work and rewarding
A company acquisition.Incorporating the new product portfolio. Competing products.
